W2

Richard Squire - HB9ANM
Assembling the W2 took less than an hour (coffee break included). Everything fits together nicely (as usual with Elecraft). And loading Rev 0.90 today went smoothly.

The accuracy is quite satisfactory as checked against my Bird 43 (which, admittedly, has not been calibrated for some time but I'm quite happy with +/-5% which nobody will notice on his S-meter anyway!).
It appears that the PK HOLD function, though very convenient and reliable in manual mode, behaves erratically in AUTO mode, always going back to "1" or "2"...

Further, the SWR meter will never show 1.0, the 1.1 LED stays on, whatever I do and even though the K3's meter shows 1:1.0 – even on a dummy load (no, I'm not an SWR addict! But I just wonder why…)
I guess these minor issues will be dealt with in some future release...

Thanks, Elecraft, for another very nice product!

I have noticed the same thing here regarding never reading 1.0:1.  Not
a big deal, but perhaps it could be fixed at some time.

We'll look into both of these issues right away, Richard. Thanks for
the report.

Hi, Richard!

You will be pleased to find we have released W2 Firmware rev 0.91, an
easily download with our "Elecraft W2 Utility" program.  The purpose of
this release is to address exactly the two items you mentioned, the
erratic Pk-Hold LED, and the SWR display error.

Please feel free to update your W2 as soon as time permits and let us
know how it works out for you.

Good Morning,
Just wanted to let you know how great the W2 works. And keeps getting better with the fixes. The download utility is "super". One click to check the new version and it downloads to the utility. Best one Yet!

Thanks Brian - 0.91 fixed both items for me.  Really like the W2 and looking forward to firmware that enables computer display.
