We'd like to congratulate David Elliot, W6BK, who led all other U.S.
stations in VP8ORK band/slot count, with 18. David used his K3, and the VP8ORK effort used seven K3s. (Some EU stations worked them on all 21 band/slots, but I don't have any information on these stations beyond that.) David emailed us about his effort: "The APF was particularly effective....The K3/P3 combination was superb. It really shines when things get 'down and dirty' as they often did on this DXpedition." Note: Band/slot count is a combination of bands and modes. If you're interested in seeing how other stations did, go to http://www.clublog.org/charts/?c=VP8ORK# and type in a callsign. If you click on on a red link in the line that says "Leaderboard," you'll see the top 100 stations in a particular zone or country. 73, Wayne, N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Hmm,
Looks like N4NN and a bunch of other NA's with 20 band/slots might have something to say about. The top seven with 21 are all SA stations, this one also with a K3. I don't think any of us make any boast about that though, rather like shooting fish in a barrel from down here (for a change). W6BK is shown at the head of the CQ ZONE 3 tabulations at 18, not USA.
The listings show the max # band slots for USA stations to be at 20. N4NN,N4BAA,K3ZXL,W6XA,K4XP,K4WZ,AB1V,and N3XX are at 20 for zone 5. K5RK,W5UN,W5IZ,K8LEE,K5AR,AG9S,N8TR,N0XA,KN50,W4NL are at 20 for zone 4. I apologize if I left anybody else out. Be interesting to know the rigs of all the above stations. 73 de Brian/K3KO On 2/9/2011 18:04, Wayne Burdick wrote: > We'd like to congratulate David Elliot, W6BK, who led all other U.S. > stations in VP8ORK band/slot count, with 18. Proud to admit my 20 slots of VP8ORK were done with two separate rigs...both of
them were...........K3s. Wayne, No problem...glad to celebrate the "sufferin 6s" ;>) The K3's APF feature and excellent adjacent signal rejection allowed me to get a 160 QSO with VP8ORK on Friday night of the 160 contest...with big USA CQ machines and some awful nearby clix from non K3 rigs. I do not think this would have been possible without a K3. 73 de al, W5IZ ________________________________ From: Wayne Burdick <[hidden email]> To: Al Baker <[hidden email]> Sent: Wed, February 9, 2011 2:42:53 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] W6BK's #1 effort in working VP8ORK: 18 of 21 band/slots (Elecraft K3 both ways) Thanks for posting this, Al. I didn't realize that W6BK's results were tops only in Zone 3. Congratulations!
