W7BRS K2 #6665 RFC13, RFC15 mixup?

Jeff Wandling W7BRS-2

Maybe some other K2 builder can help sort out the mixup and tell me if
there is a problem:

RFC1, RFC2, RFC12, RFC13 and RFC15 are all nearly the same size except
that One of them is a different color.  There is no "very small" RFC15.

There are five 100uH solenoidals total in my kit:

Four 100uH solenoidal are dark brown bodies with BRN-BLK-BRN-GOLD bands.

One 100uH solenoidal is the hair bigger, tan body, with BRN-BLK-BRN-GOLD bands.

The tan 100uH is just a hair bigger than the other four dark body 100uH.

On page 53, step 5: The tan 100uH was chosen as  RFC13 before I realized I
was also looking for a RFC15 (very small 100uH) on page 54.

See picture: http://w7brs.com/k2/rfc13.jpg

In this picture, RFC13 is mounted.  (the odd ball tan 100uH).  Resting on
top of the board above it is a representitive of the four dark body 100uH
that are nearly the same size to aid in explaining the difference.  Notice
how close in size?

Can I simply proceed with these 100uH, or do I need the subminature RFC15
for the underside step 1 on page 54?  Can I just use that dark body 100uH
to replace the subminature 100uH?  Do I have a mixup that requires a new
set of 100uH?

Oh by the way, my way of soldering the leads for the PLL board also
includes my son's own LEGO radio; just for fun:

Any advice on the RFC13/15 question would be appreicated.  Reply off-list
please and I'll summarize and repost the resolution.

Thanks,

-jeff

Summary: W7BRS K2 RFC15

Jeff Wandling W7BRS-2

K2 Builders,

The issue was some RFC1,2,12,13,15 are the same size in the kit, but the
instructions/errata call for a subminature RFC15.  The size keyword is
what got me off track.

The current online Errata:
http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K2_Errata_Rev_G-6.pdf

The errata note color is not important, but the size issue isn't redlined
out.  If you were looking for a tiny RFC15, use one of the other
BRN-BLK-BRN 100uH RFCs regardless of body color for RFC15.

So, the summary is:  RFC-1,2,12,13,15 do not involve "subminature".

I would red-line out subminiature out of the instructions.

Thanks to all that responded to quickly.  I did carry on because I saw
that I had some flexibility to put in the xtals, ground to cans, and start
the torroids -- I can go back to the step for RFC15, and then resume
torroid fun.

Thanks for the help,

-jeff
