WB3AAL QRPTTF

WB3AAL
Hello,

I plan on operating the QRPTTF from the Appalachian Trail on Saturday.

Look for me on 40, 20 & 15 meters around the QRP watering holes.

I will check 15 meters at the 3/4 hour (45 minutes after the hour) and call
CQ for 15 minutes. The band seems to be open so I hope to work a couple of
fellow QRP'ers on the band.

I will be operating portable north of Strausstown about 3/4 of a mile south
of Rte. 183 at my favorite pond.

I should be on the air around 16:00 UTC until 21:00 UTC.

The weather is to be in the 60' F with a chance of a shower.

I will be using my K1.

72 and Thanks,

WB3AAL
Hello,

I will be checking 15 meters on the hour instead of the 3/4 hour.

WB3AAL QRPTTF Report

WB3AAL
Hello,

What a QRPTTF. When I was hiking in a 5 foot black snake went across my
path for the rocks in the sun.

I arrived and had my station setup with two antennas by 16:00 UTC. I called
CQ on 15 meters, did not have any replies but I did hear some FQP stations
down around 040. I did call CQ on 15 meters at the top of every hour, no
Q's.

My operating bounced between 20 and 40 meters. When the propagation was bad
on 20 I went to 40m. The day started out with the warm sun and temps. around
68'F. At one point in time I fell asleep while calling CQ, the sun did feel
good after the long winter and cold spring here in EPA land.

I made a total of 14 contacts. QSB was very bad on 20 meters.
13 SPC and 4 Taco Bell stations.

My day was cut short due to a steady rain that hit the area around 19:30
UTC. I took my antennas down and packed up to hike out. Really wish I could
have made another 5 QSO's. I would have hit the 800 Q's from the Appalachian
trail since March 2000. One bright note, I did workKB0R on the MN/ND border.
I needed ND from the AT and with that one in the bag I need 3 more states.
HI, OR and SD.

I was using my K1 and the BWV.
