WSPR (OT)

Vic Rosenthal
When you configure a WSPR transmitter, how do you decide what is the
best frequency to use within the 200 Hz. WSPR range? I looked at the
spot database and nothing jumped out at me.

Further details: I just assembled a QRP Labs U3S standalone WSPR
transmitter, with a GPS receiver. I will probably start on 30m because
that is the band that is available when all the relays in my antenna
switching system are open, so it will be easy to let it run while the
rest of my station is off.

Sorry for the OT post, but there are lots of smart guys out there!
Answers can be off list.

Check the Activity section of the WSPRnet.org site: you can see which
slots stations are occupied. Also, check the received signals on your
display and select a vacant spot.

But it doesn't matter very much-- wspr station transmissions occur at
random intervals so that stations on the same frequency will not
consistently interfere with each other. This assumes everyone has
selected a reasonable Tx Fraction, not 100%.
