Hello, I am a very very new KX3 and PX3 owner and have been using this as my portable kit when I travel to NYC. I spend most of my life traveling in hotels, so I can't say I have really reached out to the world yet, but it certainly makes the stay a bit more fun. The KX3 and PX3 combo has been wonderful to bring on the train, setup at the hotel, and fiddle around with after work. I have a naïve question about the waterfall. What exactly are the vertical lines that seem to follow the VFO as I tune around? Are they the resonant frequencies of the KX3? I am running both units on a battery, so I can't imagine it is noise from a wall wart. But I seem to see the same thing when operating at home. On the PX3, I see the green freq/bandwidth bar move when I rotate the VFO on the KX3. But the vertical traces seem to follow along with that. Being very new to this functionality... what exactly am I seeing? I made a short video here: https://youtu.be/v3iwWgsIDok Many thanks, and I love the chatter about how great a company Elecraft it. I have not had a single issue with my radio and am really happy with my purchase. 73 Ryan N1CDX — Ryan Bardsley Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts Unites States of America Grid square: FN42on ITU zone: 8 CQ zone: 5 WGS84: 42.579234, -70.771966 e-mail: [hidden email] <mailto:[hidden email]> mobile: 617-461-8390 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
Ryan,
The traces I can see are signals of other stations. The KX3 (as any other SDR) has a limited bandwidth to display, so it will shift the display window while your are tunining out of your displayed frequency window. So, if the traces you refere to depend on the tuning speed of your VFO movements, we might talking about the same thing. You may want to tweak your display a bit: change your vertical scale a bit higher to see the signals starting from the noise floor up to their peaks. Happy waterfalling! 73 Gernot DF5RF Am 11.12.2019 um 22:00 schrieb Ryan Scott Bardsley: > Hello, > > I am a very very new KX3 and PX3 owner and have been using this as my portable kit when I travel to NYC.
