Weak signal DXing on 2 meters

I have been chasing weak signals on 6 and 2 meters for years always looking for a better
receiver.  Will I think I have found it....
K2/100 with XV144 & XV50 transverter.
I have been listening to WD9BGA/Beacon in en53ba in WI. all day both yesterday and today.  That about 330 miles.  I have never
been able to copy this beacon unless the
band up. Like early morning...etc. 
I don't want to start up this again but I use a Tokyo Hy Power solid state amp. 350 watts
it work great with the elecraft transverter.
