You might want to "tighten" the tip to iron
connection itself. Wellers, especially those of
old - did this all the time. A slightly resistive
poorly tightened tip connection - and one will get
50% or less heat conduction! For me - a simple
Circuit Specialists Inc. soldering station - is
much better, and less costly. Tips are
reasonable. I'm not in the soldering business,
and none of them last all that long.
