Thank you all for your input on the question of why I bought my K3. It is very interesting to see the variation of reasons and is most informative.
Let me restate my question on that subject. I spend all my time working 160, 40 and 6. With the exception of 40 where the S meter actually moves on some of my stations worked, the greatest majority of my DX contacts are stations where the S meter doesn't go off Zero. In other words the stuff is at threshold of the receiver. You work them as soon as they come out of the background noise. My QTH has very low ambient noise, which is a blessing.
What I am after is what in the K3 lets me hear them sooner, separate them from QRM, filter out QRN, Etc. than the big boxes?
