Why the KTCXO3-1 ??

Hello guys.

I'm in the process of picking out the K3 options I want but I don't understand what the KTCX03 is for.

This radio will be on my desk at home and used generally an hour a day during the week and possibly several hours a day on weekends. I primarily operate cw.

How desirable/necessary is this option in my environment and what is the purpose of the KTCX03?

Hi,

For regular CW and SSB operation, the standard master oscillator is more than adequate, believe me. I regularly check my frequency against WWV at 10MHz and I am never off by more than 2Hz. The high stability option is mainly of use to those who use special digital modes requiring extreme stability and accuracy.
