Will the K3/0 work with Kenwood radios?

I'm posting this for a friend who is not a lilst subscriber.
He believes that the Elecraft remote commands are the same as Kenwood's.  Is this correct?
If so, could the K3/0 be used to control a TS480 or 590?

The K3/0 only works with the K3 as it uses an advanced control command set not present on the Kenwood radios.
