This comment was meant to pertain to the STOCK K3 knob and encoder - so sweet. I am suggesting that additional weight would be of no advantage for K3 as it may be, and in my experience has been, with Collins mechanical VFO rigs.
I just remembered what that knob reminds me of - 1980's Icom 720 and 740.
Look below for a photo of the stock K3 knob with an aluminum spinner taped on the outside and then a fingerdimple.com finger dimple for the finishing touch.
