XMIT EQUALIZTION

Mike K4PI
I bought a new mic and decided to set it up using equalization for “pile up” mode.  I had always ran equalization at 0 across the board previously.  Everything went well until this morning I switched over to PSK31 with the audio coming in on LINE IN.  I kept having issues with being able to set the power level and then I noticed that on the low end of the PSK spectrum I had hardly any power at all but in the mid to high end things were fine.  Then it hit me, it was following the equalization pattern I had set up for the mic.  I see that there is a second equalization pattern for FM, ESSB and AM unfortunately which will not help me in this case as I assume it only come in when you have those modes selected.  Wonder if there is any chance of getting a second pattern in the SSB mode?  I am sure some guys would like to have a rag chew mode and a DX mode.  I need one for PSK and one for DX.  It is troublesome to have to dial out all of the equalization everytime I want to do PSK.  Any suggestions as I might be missing something.  73 Mike K4PI

Are you using DATA A for PSK31 operation?

Two thoughts.

First for PSK you should be using Data-A   This bypasses RX and TX EQ,
any compression settings and  also disables the mic.

On the EQ thing.    You can set eq settings with a program called K3EZ
I use it with different settings for rag-chew and net  and another for
contesting and DX.   each for three different microphones.   The
original creator is not supporting it anymore but there are copies
around.   I believe one of the members of the group hosted the install
files on his server but I no longer have the link for them.   If you
have the program you can store eq settings and recall them on demand.
I could email it but its bigger than most emails can handle.
this program does a whole host of cool stuff   EQ is just one small part.

If anyone knows where to find K3EZ  perhaps you could post it here.

Re: XMIT EQUALIZATION

N7US

Here's a copy of an email I sent to the Elecraft reflector in August
regarding N2BC's K3_EZ program:

Bill, N2BC, sent me an email in June saying he was "facing some serious
near-term health issues" and wasn't able to maintain the program.  He said
he'd be offering the source code for someone else to maintain it, but I
don't remember seeing that email.  Let's hope Bill is doing OK.  His direct
email address is [hidden email] .

I have the 7M ZIP files of versions 2.0.0.5, 2.0.0.7, and 2.0.0.8.  I had
some issues with the last one on my Windows 7/64 computer.  The files are
too large to upload to the Yahoo Group Elecraft_K3 files folder, though I
can email copies.

Maybe Elecraft can archive them on its website.
