[XV144] Local Oscillator Power Control

M0XDF
A question for those with an XV144 please. How do you manage the 'Local
Oscillator Power Control'? And do you have the XVOVN (crystal oven)?
Of the 3 power control options, which do you use (JP9, 1-2, 2-3, 4-5)?

Do you have the oven?
Does anyone find they need to leave the oven on all the time to achieve best
stability?
If the XV144 is not used that often, would it be better to turn the crystal
and the oven off when the XV144 is not in use?

TIA

Re: [XV144] Local Oscillator Power Control

Yes, David, I do have the crystal oven in the XV144 that I am currently
using with the K2 as I am still awaiting delivery of my K3.  I only
apply power to the XV144 when I intend to operate on 2 metres.  I do,
however, apply power to it about 15 minutes before going on the air,
otherwise there is noticeable drift while the oven warms up. I have JP9
set to 4-5 as recommended in the manual (Rev. B) when the XV144 is
fitted with the crystal oven.

I hope that helps.
