I have had a couple of stations report a gravely or sort
of overtone on my K3's xmit audio. Not everyone reports this, but more
than one has. Has anybody had a similiar experience? Could it
posibly be RF? This was not noticed with another radio when in
line.
Thanks for any help.

If you're using compression, try turning it off and see if the audio report improves. 73, Barry N1EU |

I down loaded the Beta 2.46 version with no
glitches. I haven't noticed so far any problems created by
it.
However, when using the Noise Gate function, after
quieting the back ground noise, in between words I hear a crackling or
static sound in the headset. I haven't spoke with someone yet to know
whether it is heard on the air. I suppose it is not.
But it is annoying. Has anyone else had this
to happen, and is there a cure for it?
I think the noise gate feature has been long
over due in the radios manufactured. Thanks Elecraft!

Roy,
The crackling happened here too when I
first tried the noise gate but it stopped when I turned the threshold
a bit higher. I assumed it was background noise breaching the threshold
and a sign I hadn't got the setting right.

Hello Roy!
Thank you for trying the new TX GATE feature. > However, when using the Noise Gate function, after quieting the back > ground noise, in between words I hear a crackling or static sound in the > headset. Increase the threshold further. Noise peaks are not uniform, and as you increase the threshold you'll find that most of the noise stops but occasional peaks still get through, resulting in the crackling you are hearing. Hear cracklies? Keep increasing the threshold! After they stop, increase it a bit more. Another possible approach: Listening on the MON function, find the *highest* level you can use (where your voice starts to get chopped) and then set the threshold about midway between that point and the point where the crackling noise stopped. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi Lyle,
Thank you and others who gave the same advice. I have it working well now. 73, Roy - WK4Y ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lyle Johnson" <[hidden email]> To: "Roy Davis" <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 11:27 AM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Re: K3 Noise Gate Function Hello Roy! I will be going to Bon Aire NA on the
21st with Kyle, WA4PGM, and others to participate in
the CQWWSSB Contest. I am taking My K3 #1366 along to be used as one
of the stations. If time permits before contest day, I hope to operate
portable as PJ4\WK4Y.
Please work us in the contest. The call for
the contest will be PJ4E.
Thanks,
Roy - WK4Y
