Z90 Panadapter

John Wiener
As many of you know, Clifton Laboratories produced a nice panadapter
in kit form last year. It was in QEX a few months back.
Unfortunately, it was discontinued after the first run.  I recently
emailed Jack Smith (of Clifton Labs) and he is working on a Z92 model
with an LCD display.

Wouldn't this be a nice addition to the K2?  I am hoping that Jack
and Wayne and Eric can work out a model perhaps with the EC2
enclosure, either end up or ... a FLIP-UP Screen??  Anyway, I think
this panadapter in an Elecraft-matched enclosure would do very well.

From what I've heard the build is technically similar to the K2 in
terms of difficulty.  I do not know whether there are a significant
number of SMT components.

I certainly could see a Z92 in my shack in the future.  I certainly
would enjoy the build, too.

PS, I have no relationship at all with Jack or Clifton Labs...just a
dreamer.

RE: Z90 Panadapter

Brett gazdzinski-2
I would like one.
I wish elecraft designed loads of stuff so I could build it.

A nice base radio with more knobs and buttons would be great,
they could just tweak the basic design of the K2 but add more controls
with discrete knobs and get away from the 2 or 3 functions per button.

100 watts with a built in tuner and maybe even a panadaptor, wow!

I wonder if the elecraft guys actually make a living making kits,
or do they need day jobs?
With such great designs (electrical and mechanical) I am sure they could
make big bux at a real job...
Lets hope someone does not make them an offer they cant refuse...

Despite it being motorcycle and yard work season, I am still in
the basement listening to CW on the K2, its so amazingly good...
