a new ham in the Elecraft team

Hello Group,
 
During my recent correspondences with our lady in Elecraft, Miss Lisa, I am delighted to know that she has got her ham ticket and call as KI6ZSB
 
Congratulaion, Lisa!!!
 
Like most part of the world, Hong Kong has also suffered from decling ham population.  It is now very hard to get new blood to our hobby.
 
Even my son (16 years old boy) got his ham licence, he is not keen on hamming.  He even said, "hey, dad, why should we wait for band opening to chat?  I am now with my friends in MSN, face book ........"

The best people to recruit for Ham radio are not the ones who only think of
it as a replacement for a telephone, but for the ones who are fascinated in
the other aspects - the interaction of factors that affect radio
propagation, or antenna design, or competition, or "collecting" (like
DXing), or electronics design, or emergency communications.

I've been a Ham since I was 16 years old.  I'm 48 now, as excited about
radio as I've ever been,  and have realized that I won't have enough time to
enjoy and learn about all the different areas before my time here is over.

All IMHO...

I joined the wrestling team, but it did nothing to advance my radio skills.  You made the right decision for the wrong reason.
