Actually it seems as though Elecraft chose to go the other way - delay the fan speed increase until a higher temperature. See KPA1500 firmware release notes:
"New fan speed temperature thresholds:
- Change the temperature points at which the RF Deck fans are switched in. This does not change the Power Supply's fan speeds.
- Prior settings: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 degrees.
- New settings: 60, 70, 78, 85, 90 degrees."
I'm taking an interest in this as I'm gathering data on KPA500 dissipation, temperatures, and fan speeds for my station.
