I don't know if my problem is unique, but I am getting frequent P3 resets.
About every 10 to 20 min with the K3/P3 operating fine with either no data fields showing or in the data mode, the external VGA monitor freezes, and the P3 displays its reset notice P3 Boot Loader, Download Firmware, Ready for download. To clear it, I just have to cycle the P3 power and it will be fine for a while. The new P# firmware appears to function correctly, but I would like a larger "blue" box on the bottom of the screen to enter the text of the macro and text files. Now they are just about off the bottom of my display with th small text. You can set the amount of lines and Data font;
Adjusting the Tx / Rx Window Sizes and Font Using the P3, enter the SVGA Menu ; Press the MENU key on the P3 and rotate the knob to the SVGA Menu. Press the knob to enter the SVGA sub-menu To adjust the Rx Window Size, select: . SVGA WinR Changes the size of the receive data window, size is in lines. . SVGA WinT Changes the size of the transmit data window, size is in lines. . SVGA FntD Changes the font, 0 is the smallest, 3 the largest. The combined size of the Rx and Tx windows is limited to 40 lines. The above settings are interdependent. For example, if the Rx window is set to 20 lines, the Tx window cannot be greater than 20 lines. The size of the font also affects the number of lines available. NOTE: if the Tx window size is set to 0, the keyboard and Tx window is deactivated. Try running the P3 at 15v, see if it freezes up then. Mine at 15v supply and never freezes. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Howard Sherer Sent: Monday, 30 July 2012 2:03 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] bug with P3 VGA USB kbd software I don't know if my problem is unique, but I am getting frequent P3 resets. Hi Howard,
On my monitor it shows slightly above bottom. When the box is gone and you are not entering text for the macros, does the display look correct? In other words, is the bottom white line of the frame visible? It wouldn't be that big of a deal to move the box up slightly, however the size is limited based on the number characters that can be entered, which is 124. When the P3 displays its reset notice, is there any other information slightly beforehand such as an error message? This is the first I've heard of this. 73, Paul

Howard,
One other thing, are you using HRD or some other computer application to control the K3? If you are, you may want to try it without that. -Paul |
