get what you ask for: power-out resolution

Lloyd Lachow
   Gary pointed me to:

  http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/Power_Control_Mod.html

and also said, "...there is an optimum value of R98
for any specific K2 that will allow the best power
control resolution. Basically, it allows the 8 bit DAC
(U8 on the control board) to use more of its maximum
possible 256 bits of control."

This is cool! Tweakage for my specific rig...The
closest I had was a 5K pot, and I fiddled with it a
bit, but couldn't get a truly satisfactory result with
10W on 10M, because, I think, my dummy load is only
for 5W. I finally went to 40M, and tested to see the
highest value that would give me near what I requested
as power-out, but since the suggested value of the pot
was 1K, I didn't exceed that.

  I wound up replacing the 270 ohm R98 with a 1K, and
now I'm well-pleased; getting just a few tenths of a
watt over the requested power level on all bands.
