If so can do job in one go - hopefully. Regards 73 Alan Dave said: "You probably would be wise to use a screwdriver that is magnetic so that you can move the screw down over the hole and begin to screw it in. The required washer can be places over the hole by just sliding them into position using the small slots on the side where the screwholes are located. But those slots aren't big enough to do the same with the screw itself. But using a magnetic tipped screwdriver also can cause a small problem as you approach the screwhole where you have already placed the washer. The washer wants to move due to the magnetic attraction. So you have to "aim and shoot" somewhat deftly. But it works. Somebody else probably has a much simpler solution to this." __________________________________________________________ Sent from Yahoo! The tool was also stocked by RS (Radio Spares) at one time, their stock number 537-293 and described as a Retrieving Tool. After starting to thread the screw (with washer) using the Grabber, the job is completed with a screwdriver. The tool can also be used to hold a screw and washer in place while the mating nut is threaded onto the screw with a nutdriver ( assuming Clinch Nuts are not being used) to illustrate just one of the many other jobs that can be handled. Standard disclaimers apply, a satisfied user long converted from magnetic methods! 73, Geoff GM4ESD "alan" <[hidden email]> wrote: > If its magnetic, will the washer remain on the screw whilst > on the head of the screwdriver? The first time I tried this I kind of thought it wasn't all that useful. But, as you said, with certain signals it can make copy easier. I also combine it sometimes with dual passband filtering which also helps. I've had the K3 for a week now and I am still finding little surprises here and there. I haven't seen a radio so cleverly thought out since the K2. What a great radio! UPS Express without a hitch. No import duty demands (didn't expect any..) just a request for a cheque for 210 ukp for VAT and 'brokerage charges' which took about 3 minutes; like a visit to the dentist you want this sort of thing over and done with as quickly and efficiently as possible. Now to finish unpacking though it may be interrupted when I sneak off to take advantage of the superb afternoon conditions on 20m to the mountain/desert states of the western US we've been having the last week or so. I'd been aware of Reid and Prince for over 50 years, but hadn't heard anyone mention them in quite a long time. One curious thing is that they use the term "Square Recess" instead of "Robertson." I'd always heard them called Robertson. I believe it was McFeely's in Lynchburg, Virginia that was instrumental in reviving interest in the Robertson bit. http://myword.info/sendword.php?sq_drive_1-a ------------------------------ Message: 9 Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 08:58:34 -0600 From: "Solosko, Robert B (Bob)" <[hidden email]> Subject: RE: [Elecraft] OT - 10 meter contest To: <[hidden email]> Message-ID: <[hidden email]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" For the few hours that I was on throughout the weekend, I managed 10 CW and 2 SSB QSOs (and Scott was one of my CW QSOs) in MA, NH and RI, all within about 50 miles of my QTH . But in the 2 years that I've had my K2/100, these are my first QSOs on 10m, so I'm quite satisfied. Bob W1SRB -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of B. QRP is always tough but it looks like this is going to be a "worked all MA" effort. {grin} So, I'm not sure you're having worse luck than the rest of us. The good news is that I had done a little work on my K2 (QRP version--no 100w option) and wanted to know if it was behaving well. My friend in NH just over the border) worked me and said the radio "sounded like music". I know that's music to my ears! Conditions aren't the greatest. I've put about 20 in the log with MA, NH, and ME as mults. I've got just a dipole hidden in some adjacent woods. Perhaps those with aluminum farms are having better luck?
