is EQP-2005 this weekend?

k6iii@juno.com

I have not seen much in the way of promotion for the Elecraft QSO Party, 2005. In January, Wayne mention a date of 12 March.  Anymore info? Is it really gonna happen?   Writelog has updated the EQP module for the 2005 rules (Where are they posted?). So WL users will want to down load WL1053e

Yes! EQP-2005 is this weekend

The Elecraft QSO Party -- pre-announced in January -- will indeed be
happening this weekend from 1500 UTC Saturday (March 12) to 1500
Sunday. We'll have the rules page updated by tomorrow, along with an
official and final announcement. The basic rules have not changed, but
we'll add links to any new software, etc. See Jerry's comment below
about Writelog.

There was some very useful feedback on the rules from last year
(thanks, everyone). We hope to incorporate some changes in the future,
but ran out of time for this year's contest. (Been busy around here!)
Hopefully, this means that no one will have to do any software
rewrites.

Stay tuned....and keep your fingers crossed for good conditions. Anyone
check the forecast?

Re: EQP-2005 - any participants in southeast NH US?

If anyone in the southeastern NH area -- say within 20 miles of
Portsmouth NH -- will be participating in this event -- or even other
contest events -- I am trying to find subjects to photograph for a story
and photo spread on radio contesting which will probably run within the
next month or two in the local newspaper.  Please contact me off-list if you
wouldn't mind me stopping by to do some candid/documentary photos during
the contest (or preparing for it -- building the gear, setting up
antennas, etc.).

Thanks,
--Andrew, NV1B

Hi,

I wrote a quick and dirty log software last year.

It has a serious bug, which was found during the party and I have not
fixed it. I missed that EQP is this coming week end and do not have
time to fix it now.

If your log becomes too long EQP_2004.exe will crash!

Re: Yes! EQP-2005 is this weekend

Hi all,

Thought I had found it - thought I had a work around.

The problem appears to lie within the so called EditorGadget in Pure
Basic. It seems to have problems with large chunks of text and at
times mixes up its internal pointers. I still loose the log, at times,
when there are a large number of QSOs. With all the tags, a lot of
text is created per QSO and it is the toal length of the text which
the gadget goofs on.

I've posted my newest BETA and sources, which still do NOT work
correctly with a large number of QSOs, but at least it does not crash
any more.

Also, and this may also have to do with the EditorGadget, when you
have say 500 QSOs in the log, the dupe checking becomes very slow.
Apart from this, the dupe checker is not very smart, i.e. there are
better, faster ways of doing stuff like this.

To really fix this, I need time to redesign the internal data
structures. Time which does not exsist.

PS: If there is enough interest, I could do a proper job of this for
2006.

K2 assembly: tilt bail so tight it warps cover

Andrew Moore-4
In reply to this post by wayne burdick
I'm assembling my K2 -- the tilt bail is so tight between the oval feet
that it actually warps the bottom cover (which is not yet attached to
the rest of the rig).  Is this normal?

Andrew,

I had the same problem, took me a while to work out that all you need to do
is bend the bail by hand (quite easy to do) until the tension is correct.
