Ron,
I would look for a problem in the KPA100 T/R switch area. Especially be suspect of Q6 and Q7, D11, D12, D13 and D14. While this sounds like a condition when a relay contact is damaged, resist that thought because the K2 and KPA100 transmit/receive switching does not operate any relays, it is entirely electronic. When you say you "bypass the antenna around the KPA100" do you mean that you attach the antenna to the base K2 *in place of* the KPA100? please explain better just how you are accomplishing that. Is this a KPA100 mounted externally to the base K2? 73, Don W3FPR ron wrote: > more info on problem. bypass antenna around kpa100 problem still > there. unhook kio2 from kpa and problem goes away > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr. more info. low rceive after keying also occurs with kpa100 shut off in menu.
should'nt the signal bypass the t/r switch in this mode. k1 and k2 are ok with no power. problem still there with power unhooked to kpa. have kat100 and kpa100 in seperate box. not using kat100 . signal hooks to aux rf in on kat. ron _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Ron,
You are correct that the T/R switch is bypassed when the KPA100 is set off in the menu. If I recall your prior post, it behaved correctly with the cable removed from your KIO2 adapter. Leave the KIO2 plugged in and the base K2 with its top cover off. Then when it misbehaves, check the voltage on the 8R voltage rail - easily accessible at Control Board Q2 collector. The normal voltage during receive is 7.5 to 8 volts, and if it is substantially lower, the K2 will not receive well. That is the one signal that is carried to the KPA100 from the base K2 that could reduce receive signal levels. 73, Don W3FPR ron wrote: > more info. low rceive after keying also occurs with kpa100 shut off in > menu. should'nt the signal bypass the t/r switch in this mode. k1 and > k2 are ok with no power. problem still there with power unhooked to > kpa. have kat100 and kpa100 in seperate box. not using kat100 . signal > hooks to aux rf in on kat. > ron > _______________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Post to: [hidden email] > You must be a subscriber to post to the list. > Subscriber Info (Addr.
