k2 assembly lcd

Hello Elecraft,

  Well I ended up cutting the backlight leads cause they don't fit in
  the holes, and made them short enough to solder the lcd in place.

  The instructions just aren't right for this part. the backlight deal
  should have holes big enough for the leads.

Are you sure you have the correct spacing? I.e. the 2 spacers stacked on top of each other (flatwise) should fit perfectly under each end of the diffuser and everywhere underneath it.

The instructions for my LCD were completely spot-on. The leads for the LCD should just barely go into the holes as-is or even almost float above them (this is why you solder them from the component side of the board and not the bottom). That was exactly the case with mine, the leads were almost but not quite flush with the bottoms of the holes on many and some they were just barely going in......
