Royce,
Remove the left side panel, and you should see a 5.6k resistor soldered
between pin 6 and pin 1 of the microphone jack. Lift the resistor from
pin 1 and an non-amplified Kenwood microphone should work just fine.
If it is an amplified mic, you will have to remove the front panel and
chenge the microphone configuration header to route +5 volts to pin 5
instead of pin 6.
