k2 ssb

[ROYCE RAINWATER]

I have purchased a used k2 which has the ksb2 ssb adapter installed and was
used with the elecraft hm 2 which I did not get.  I have a kenwood hand
mike that came with the kenwood ts590 and am looking for advise configuring
the k2 for the kenwood hand mike.

Royce,

Remove the left side panel, and you should see a 5.6k resistor soldered
between pin 6 and pin 1 of the microphone jack.  Lift the resistor from
pin 1 and an non-amplified Kenwood microphone should work just fine.

If it is an amplified mic, you will have to remove the front panel and
chenge the microphone configuration header to route +5 volts to pin 5
instead of pin 6.
