Dear K3ers,
Perhaps I'm missing something, but in Wayne's firmware update note yesterday he said: "We also suggest installing the latest version of our firmware downloader (K3 Utility revision 1.1.3.6) before you do the upgrade." The latest utility version I see on the K3 Software Page is rev 1.1.2.28 from 2/28. When I run that version it says "newer version available," but offers no clue as to how or where to find it. Any thoughts? Second question, while you're here. The Elecraft K2 page says CT logging software works with the K2 (and apparently with the K3). CT doesn't list any Elecraft radios as far as I can see. Is there another radio selection that works well with the K2/3? During the DX contest last week I couldn't make it play with the radio in any way I found helpful. Thanks much! Regards, Joel Joel R. Wayne was premature with that...1.1.2.28 is the current public release. I used CT's TS-50 setting for the K3 which worked well in the ARRL DX CW. 73, Bill |

Elecraft K3 software is available on the Elecraft software web page
http://www.elecraft.com/K3/k3_software.htm. There's now a link to that page in the K3 Utility Help topic "Help over the Web", "K3 Software". I'm not sure what K3 Utility Version I added those help topics, but they're there now. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Bill W4ZV Sent: Saturday, March 08, 2008 2:20 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] k3; Firmware and Config Utility? jrhallas wrote: > > > "We also suggest installing the latest version of our firmware downloader > (K3 > Utility revision 1.1.3.6) before you do the upgrade." > > The latest utility version I see on the K3 Software Page is rev 1.1.2.28 > from 2/28. Based on a comparison of the command sets, choose one of the "late model" Kenwood settings ... e.g., TS-450/850/950, 570/870, 480 or 2000. Earlier Kenwood models use a different format for VFO/Split selection and reporting. 73, ... If the new version is suspect, perhaps someone will tell me whether I should now downgrade to 1.1.2.28 ? I see that 1.1.3.6 has been removed from the server. 73 -- David G4DMP Leeds, England, UK ------ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Why can't you two just setup the radio how you like it and then download
the settings out of the rig to your computer. Then when each of you sits down you just reconfig the radio with your settings. That way you get your own memories, filter settings, EQ settings, mic gains, the later to be S-Meter operation preference and the whole works... No, definitely not. Memorised settings are far more preferable for me. Less time on the pc more time on the radio.

The actual storage is done on the Pc, not the K3. granted there will be a few more lines of code but I cannot see it as a problem. As I see it, that issue is down to Elecraft. They tell us that there is plenty of room so that is fine by me. > > Next thing people will be asking for biometric scanners so that each > user can log into the radio to load their settings. Could be fun from the radio's point of view.
You log in, radio decides whether you abused it last time with too much Linux software and denies access until you learn to behave :-) Simon Brown, HB9DRV -------------------------------------------------- From: "Ian J Maude" <[hidden email]> >> Next thing people will be asking for biometric scanners so that each user >> can log into the radio to load their settings. > Now there's an idea.... what about it guys? ;-) _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
