I thought the question was in regard to recording another ham on the air and playing it back to him over the air?
It was said the alc was sky high thus the playback not being a accurate representation with no way to adjust except rf gain trial and error. I have not used my dvr for that but find it hard to believe that it's not come up before? And Lyle thanking the gentleman for bringing it to his attention. Surely there's got to be operators doing this successfully. No? Of course I could have totally misunderstood the question. 73 Mike R Sent from my spy ring ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I have sent on air recorded audio of a station
back to them successfully but my alc only shows about 7 bars when I do so I'm also curious where the K3 determines the level at which it retransmits that recorded audio? perhaps it has something to do with the level of the audio being heard over the speakers/phones by the operator when the recording is made?? It is absolutely pointless to play recorded audio back to the station IF you
are trying to show him how good or bad his/her audio is. The amount of change in the signal quality between RX and Tx in your own transceiver is more than enough to alter the sent audio. Even going to the effort of centering your TxEQ and RxEQ will not enable you to transmit a true representation of the transmitted audio from the 'other' station. It can of course let the sending station know how strong his signal at your station? I have heard quite a few stations use various radios and gadgets to play on-air recorded audio and I have yet to hear one that was a good representation of the original audio. Again, it is all the perception of the individual...:-) Gary On 15 August 2011 03:48, Sam Morgan <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have sent on air recorded audio of a station > back to them successfully > but my alc only shows about 7 bars when I do so > > I'm also curious where the K3 determines the level > at which it retransmits that recorded audio? > > perhaps it has something to do with the level of the audio > being heard over the speakers/phones by the operator > when the recording is made?? > > GB & 73 > K5OAI > Sam Morgan > > On 8/14/2011 12:16 PM, Mike Rodgers wrote: > > I thought the question was in regard to recording another ham on the air > and > > playing it back to him over the air? > > > > It was said the alc was sky high thus the playback not being a accurate > > representation with no way to adjust except rf gain trial and error. > > > > I have not used my dvr for that but find it hard to believe that it's not > > come up before?
