kat500 can't be seen by kat500 utility

when i plug in the serial/usb cable, a new com port, com4 appears in the
list of com ports.  however, the kat500 utility cannot complete the
handshake when trying to connect to the new com4.  i checked the plug in
the back, and it appears to be all the way in.

advice and suggestions appreciated.

Buddy,

Leave the cables plugged and reboot the PC. Once restarted, open the utility and make sure the port you are using is the correct one.  Sometimes ports change based on the order cables are plugged in, etc.  Too many variables for me to guess what you are doing.

One time I had this problem, and I discovered embarrassingly that I was using the KPA 500 Utility for the KAT500, or it might have been vis versa.  Might be worth double checking! ;-) 73 de Carl N8VZ
