lowest stable power of K2

Johnny Siu
Hello Group,

My K2 does not have a K60XV.  In the connection with the XV144, I would like to use the lowest power from my K2.

From the SEC menu, I can adjust the power output to as low as 0.1W.  However, I have no idea about whether this 0.1W is stable.  Could any of you advise what is the lowest stable power from K2.  My K2 is fitted with KAT2.

Johnny,

To prevent damage to the K144XV from inadvertent overpowering at the
input, I recommend you set the K144XV for 5 watts input.  That will
allow you to run the K2 in a power stable range while driving the
transverter.

If you insist on using a lower input to the K144XV, I recommend you look
at an old mod by WJ4P.  That mod reduces the range for the power control
to 1/10 the normal range   See
http://www.madisoncounty.net/~kj5tf/K2mWmod.htm.  If the power range is
reduced tenfold, the power stability should increase tenfold in the process.

There are also application notes on the Elecraft website that deal with
milliwatting the K2.
