Hi Gang.... I have a question.... I need to eventually replace my BNC connector on my KX1. Since I did not build the KX1 I have I need some info. I have heard it is difficult to remove the present one because of heat needed to remove the connector. The fear is that the board will be damaged. I have had the KX1 apart down to the main board and I see a phillips screw and I presume that is the screw holding the board in place. Am I correct? I need to remove the board to get to the connecor. What is the best way to remove the BNC connector?
Thanks you for your suggestions.. I had to replace mine once, it's not as bad as you might think if you
have a big iron. I cut the center conductor wire, then heated the body of the connector with a large iron until the solder holding it in place reflowed - at which point I turned the board upside down and the connector fell right out under it's own weight. A little solder between tip of iron and connector body helped pass the heat. A solder sucker was then used to remove the center conductor remnant.
