With my K3 and a "570D" hand mic (MC-43S), I have the following settings: Mic gain 20 to 30 (depends how loud you talk) Compression 20 Mic selection FP.H with no bias (when bias is turned on the word "bIAS" appears alongside FP.H) I also have some TX EQ to reduce low frequencies and increase higher ones, it depends on your voice. With TX test selected, a monitor audio level of 22, the audio sounds good and the CMP/ALC metering kicks up nicely on normal speech. 73 Dave, G4AON K3/100 #80 ----------------- I'm trying two different mics to transmit with. One is a Kenwood hand mic from a Kenwood 570D and the other is a Heil Pro Set Plus with an 8pin Kenwood mic adapter. I haven't had any luck when even trying to set up my levels for transmitting. I cannot get any bar to show up or move on the ALC or Compression when keying down. I have tried with the compression as high a 30 and the mic gain as high as 60 but no movement, whether in TX Test or regular TX mode. I feel like I am forgetting to change one setting somewhere, if that is what the problem is. I put the K3 together myself and don't know if something could have been done wrong there, but after looking again and again in the manual, I just don't know what else to try. Any suggestions, even to go and check basic settings will be appreciated. Please reply offline. This may be a very stupid question but are you sure you have the vox on and
properly adjusted when you speak into the mike? My K3 has no problem with level either audio or vox trip using the Pro Set.
