I'm about to construct a K1-2, and wondered if
there were any "must-do" mods to consider, or if the current manual is pretty up-to-date with how things ought to be? TIA. D RF boards (mid-2002 or earlier), the following URL contains just about all major K1 mods: http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/K1%20upgrade%20instructions_3f.pdf . However, this URL does *not* mention the installation of RF-C78 that is used in Rev. E, and which should be backfitted on earlier K1 RF boards that will be used on 80m. The QSK thump reducation mod at: http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/K1_qsk_app_note.htm is not part of this, nor has that mod been incorporated into Rev. E RF boards. Rev. E RF boards have just about everything learned from the first couple of years of K1 production except the QSK thump mod. There are also various *unofficial* mods for LCD backlighting and RIT range reduction that you can read about in the K1/K2 FAQ section. The Elecraft website would be *much* easier to use if al the K1 items were segregated on another page from the K2 items. Right now it's just a misch-mash of mixed together links on one web page. Also, the K1 quick reference guide which has been on Elecraft's web site for a couple of years has *incorrect* information on it for keyer and noise blanker operation. 73, Mike / KK5F _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
