Is there a manual or instructions for download on assembly of the kx3 kit and options for viewing?

I have the same question. I'm thinking of ordering a KX3, but wonder how much is involved in building the kit?
There seems to be mucho info on the KX3 but hardly any on how the kit goes together. Is it just a couple of boards? Are there discreet components? Where can I find the info? Thanks and 73. Joe AF6NI |
Last I heard (middle of last week?) they were still putting together the
kit assembly manual, and making minor modifications to the hardware. I am sure there will be a reaction when the kit manual becomes available for download, both here and on the KX3 group. I too am quite curious about this, I am expecting it to be a 2-3 hour job and probably a bit tricky in places, considering the amount of electronics squeezed into that small space. I'm expecting at least 4-5 boards including the ATU and battery charger. 73, Thomas M0TRN On 20 April 2012 14:39, af6ni <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have the same question. Joe,
The KX3 assembly manual is not out yet, and they are refining the hardware assembly steps. The kit has no discreet components - unless you can classify a speaker assembly as a discreet component. There are 2 main boards in the KX3 and each option is an additional board. Construction should not take too long - assemble the enclosure and mount the boards - everything plugs together - no soldering required. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/20/2012 9:39 AM, af6ni wrote: > I have the same question. Since there's not an assembly manual yet, it's hard to say. But
probably it's a lot like the K3 but less complicated. I believe it's another no-solder kit, so you're basically mounting boards and components and plugging in the interconnection cables & jumpers. I believe there are a couple of main boards, LCD display, battery holder, etc. If by discrete components you mean things like resistors and transistors, I'd say no. But if you consider things like connectors and so forth to be discrete components, then yes. If one can follow written instructions carefully, tell the difference between screws of different lengths, etc., most people will have no difficulty. Since you haven't ordered yet, by the time you could receive a kit any difficult spots will have been worked out and discussed here, and there will probably be YouTube videos of people doing the assembly. 73- Nick, WA5BDU Screwdrivers and kitchen table ready for my KX3.
