question about K3 memories and VFO B

Pierfrancesco Caci

Do I understand correctly that, while memories can store both VFO A and
VFO B, they have to
1) be on the same band when storing VFOs into memory,
2) when recalling, VFO B must already be on the band that is in the
   memory ?

I have CONFIG:VFO IND=YES and no KRX3 installed, if that matters.

Thanks

Pf

The only reason I would not set CONFIG:VFO IND=YES is that I would be concerned
about transmitting on another band without knowing it when I was using split.

If you had the KRX3, then you might be spared from transmitting on another band
without knowing it when using split.

Hi,
thanks for the input. I'm not actually concerned about split (although
you have a good point there), rather about the usefulness of having a
memory that can store both vfo A and B, but you can't recall B if it's
not already on the same band.
And yes, I really need to put that antenna back up and get to actually
use the new radio I have, instead of playing with memories and remote
control <g>

You cannot enter split if the vfos are on different bands.

Both of these are true.

Thanks.
So the only way to recall a memory that contains band limits for scan
purposes, and be sure you get what you want, is:

M->V, select the memory of interest, M->V, A->B, M->V, M->V.

Correct?

You're right Fred!  Thanks for correcting me.

Then, other than monitoring two bands what is the purpose of having the VFO's
independent?
