If you can manage it you could also consider sloping the loop.
This will give you some directivity but a lower angle of radiation
as well.
I have a 100ft diameter delta loop with the apex tied to the rain
gutters at the back of the house (up about 20 feet) and the base
running along the top of my back fence (up about 6 feet) and
this works very well for me on 20m through 40m, fed via an
LDG Autotuner mounted remotely on the side fence.
I am feeding the antenna about 1/4 wavelength down from the
apex on 30m.
This antenna is gives me about 3 S-units improvement in S/N
ratio over my Gap vertical (I also live in a noisy location).

P.S. I also have used an MFJ Mag loop and it works quite well
for at least the higher bands and it is also very quiet.
