Jim,

Something must be wrong because I have mine set to 2 or 3 for normal (and
comfortable) operation and 8-10 if I'm doing a group demo.

Just a few dB would help tremendously. My ears require a pitch around 500Hz

so using

a higher pitch will only make it worse. I quess old age is my problem--hi.
