re:Thinking of buying a K2

HI Martin

I got my K2 last year around October.

I did check with Elecraft and they confirmed that I wouldn't / shouldn't have
to pay custom duty.

I think it is classified as transceiver kit or components .

I did have to pay VAT though.

UPS delivered it quite promptly , with excellent tracking on the web.

The only snag was that  I was charged £ 10 services charges on top of their
already handsome delivery charges for them paying VAT in advance and ?? may
be clearing the customs .

YOU shouldnot have to pay custom duty.

Regards

Hi guys and happy new year to you all. I built a K1 about 3 years ago now
(my first rig in fact) and it has been in regular use since. I am more than
satisfied with the K1 but feel the need for the big brother to give me more
coverage, quicker band switching and SSB capability. I intend to get the
basic K2 and add the SSB module at a later stage. Does anyone know the
latest situation with shipping to the UK. Last time I had to pay duty and
VAT.
