i use an empty 45 cal shell with several turs of 14 ga wire around it hooked up to my weller gun. use a shell that has been fired so the primer is no good, otherwise bad things can happen.

Most people can buy a small copper pipe cap more easily.

And the Hakko 808 desoldering gun works well, too.
