some k3 questions

Jed Barton
Hey guys,

I'm a brand new user to the k3.  I just got one from a friend.  He gave it
to me eith a heil seadset.  Here's what we've noticed.  A few people have
said on the air that the audio isn't horrible, but it could be a lot better.
What is the most recommended mic for this radio, and anyone have any ideas
to make it better?
Also, is there any way to increase the volume of the CW side tone for when
you send CW?

Thanks,
Jed

Jed...

I have used a K2 and a K3 for a total of well over a year, and have
received many unsolicited compliments on the audio. I am using the
Elecraft hand mike. May I suggest that the quality of your audio may
have something to do with the headset?

The CW sidetone level is set by pressing/holding for a second or
two the knob labelled cmp/pwr/mon. Once the "mon" function shows up on
the screen, adjust the level with the same knob. (You must be in CW mode
for this to work.)

I would recommend the "Nifty Ham Accessories Mini-Manual" from www.
niftyaccessories.com...there is a lot of stuff "in there!"
