You probably don't need to install the K3 Utility. Just copy the .exe file
into a folder on your CD and execute it from there, or copy it from your CD
into a temporary folder on the host's computer and execute it from there.
Try this all at home first!
The K3 Utility will write into the registry - it saves its settings in
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Elecraft\K3 Utility. You may want to "clean up"
your host's computer by removing that registry value after you're all done.

Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 Firmware updates at "remote" locations
Would it be possible to start with one of the "live" CD Linux distributions,
add
the K3 Utility and a folder/directory with the firmware files, then either
re-burn it all to a new, bootable CD, or (depending on the distribution) a
thumb
drive?
That way, it wouldn't matter what was on the PC - as long as it could boot
from
a CD or USB, you'd be set.
