This is fairly easy to do - I have the bulk of the code already written and tested to do this as part of the remote ATU that I'm building (encoder interface, RS232 code, limited K3 command parsing). The code is written in CCS C for a microchip PIC and if you are interested I can send out the code under an open source not for commercial use type of arrangement.
