Yes,
I now have 2 K3's #806 and #1055 (bought used). #806 exhibits the
anomaly you describe, but #1055 dies not. However #1055's dimple edge
has a metallic shine to it as though it was not painted. I think what
I am seeing here is that #806 has had the dimple painted, but #1055
has not.
Perhaps different knob suppliers in the past?
