Actually it's NOT a popping noise, it's the KNIFE'S EDGE. This would never
have been noticed because with 50 hz shift, the mind cannot connect the
before and after sound of the shift.
...but with 10 Hz, and the change not damped by an analog circuit, one can
hear the very sharp 8 db drop of a signal due to a 10 Hz change of position
on the steep skirt, and for that matter, hear why a lot of us have been
yearning after this improvement.
Using the "250" 8 pole filter set for 350 in the filter setup, and IF dsp
skirts at 350 to synchronize skirts, you get to listen to a 10 Hz change
drop a signal 8 db. This is a HUGE advantage for dropping a signal right at
the edge of your passband in a contest. Big difference between .57 .58, .59,
and .60 as seen in this partial chart on a steady test signal.
Shift Dbv
.45 0.1
.57 -14.5
.58 -22.4
.59 -30.9
.60 -37.1 (encountering test signal noise)
Way to go Wayne!
