No, it is more than that. We have implemented a command set for the KPA that
will allow you to monitor and control its operation. This is very important
for users who wish to use the KPA500 remotely. The K3 Utility will make very
good use of these commands to show what the KPA500 is doing and allow you to
control it. Of course the command set will be published so others can
implement KPA500 control features in their programs.
You are correct that the KPA and K3 communicate through the Aux signals. We
also have interfaces for transceivers from other manufacturers, and the
option to allow the KPA500 to determine the proper band as well. This latter
works incredibly well, detecting a new band and switching in well less than
a dit time.
The KPA500 is definitely worth waiting for. But the wait should soon be
over...
