KX3 amp interface

Please excuse my ignorance, I am having trouble connecting my KX3 to my AL 811. I have an Arb 704 but can't get it to connect.
Please help, have had the radio and amp for nearly a year but have basically never made an HF contact.
Feeling defeated.
