K3 erratic/low power output. TXG ERR

My K3 SN 1502 has developed a power output problem.  I am seeing anywhere from about 20 to 40 watts instead if the usual 110.  I use it with a KPA500 and both have the latested firmware loaded.  I do have the new syn board which was factory installed about a year or so ago.  I have tried the transmitter gain calibration several times both 5 and 50 watts.  It has failed several times with low output though it has completed both power levels fine a couple of times.  However both times it reverted to low output pretty quickly.  I have also tried reloading firmware a couple of times.  Decided to step away and check here for any ideas.  Short of taking the cover off and tightening screws and re-seating modules (which I plan to do in the morning) I'm fresh out of ideas.
