unused holes in K60XV

Just finishing K60XV kit.  Instructions say "At this point only the  
locations for J1 and J2 should be empty.
I find 8 holes scattered around the center of the board that are unused.

Did I miss something, or do these remain empty?

John,

If my guess is right, there will be no component silk-screened markings at
these holes - those are 'via holes' and are used to carry the PC trace from
one side of the board to the other - no components are to be inserted in
those holes.  A solder pad may also be used for the dual purpose of a via
hole and a connection.
