160 mtr on K2 question

Recently installed the 160 board on K2 (3349) and tuned up per the directions.....I notice that there's a pronounced drop in noise on either end of the band whereas the noise comes up quite a bit at the center of the band. Is this "normal" receiver operation on 160?

Per the tune up directions I get full output at band ends, 1800 and 2000khz and the 75/80-mtr band works as before.

Ed,

One possible explanation for what you are
 experiencing is a narrow bandwidth in
your receiving antenna.  My HF-2V
with 160m kit and top-loading is only good
for about 20 KHz bandwidth.  Large excursions
away from the antenna resonant point yield
similar results for me on both my K2 and Omni 6.

Yes, both my K2s behave the same way.
Here all my activity is below about 1925 kHz,
so I peak my tuning somewhere areound
1850.
