I am in need of three 1N4108 zener diodes. I have not been able to find
them unless I want to buy hundreds of them. Seems everyone has minimum orders. Does anyone have a few they would part with or know where I can get them in small quantities? I'll let you look up the specs, but if you can use the 8.2v Zener you can buy them for about .03 each here: http://www.newark.com/vishay-semiconductor/1n4738a-tr/zener-diode-1-3w-8-2v-do-41/dp/22H4333 I belive they have a 7.9V as well. Sorry if this doesn't help. > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2010 15:47:01 -0400 > Subject: [Elecraft] 1N4108 > > I am in need of three 1N4108 zener diodes. This is the point where you go to replace by value, as what you are
trying to replace is a bulk diode with bulk variations intended to feed machines with tapes. Second thing, if you had to replace it because it burned up, always step up the power ratings, like from the 1.5 watts of the 1N4108 to 5 watts. Given that go to the Mouser.com parts search engine: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Central-Semiconductor/CZ5351B/?qs=SSucg2PyLi5%252b8cGZ3v26ag%3d%3d If that's a grain of wheat zener, look at the more general search at http://www.mouser.com/Semiconductors/Diodes-Rectifiers/Zener-Diodes/_/N-2xpqt?P=1z0w7oz&Keyword=zener+diode&FS=True Mouser's search engine bailed me out many times and great source of what can be found. 73, Guy. 1N4108 is 14V 1.5 watts. It seems to be a common sort, not a pin diode or such.

When I can't find what I need at DigiKey I always go to Jameco.
Jameco is a large supplier to industry but handles small orders to individuals very efficiently and they always seem to have what I need. I don't think there is a minimum overall order size and the only time I have had to order 10 of some part it was for parts costing only a few cents each. A bonus for Jameco is that their web site is very easy to navigate, specifications are clear, and there is a link to the manufacturer's specification sheet for most parts. Just Google 'Jameco' Don K7FJ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Well, I may be a cheat, but when I can't get something that comes in bulk (1000 units at a time), I go to the manufactures web site and I fill out an on-line request for "samples" where you can have up to 100 of pretty much any item. With the exception of IC's which they usually limit to about 10. They generally ship them in about a days time, and at no charge. I haven't yet encountered a manufacture that didn't offer this service. > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email]; [hidden email] > Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2010 13:05:42 -0700 > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] 1N4108 > > When I can't find what I need at DigiKey I always go to Jameco. > > Jameco is a large supplier to industry but handles small orders to > individuals very efficiently and they always seem to have what I need. It would appear that DigiKey has 1N5344B (14V 500 mW axial) zener diodes for $0.33 each. Using their search application yields: <http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearh/dksus.dll?Detail&name=1N5244B-TPCT-ND> I don't think moving from a 250mW (1N4108) to 500mW (1N5344B) rating should be significant. 73, ... http://www.findchips.com shows that Arrow has them for $0.55 in
quantities of 1. 73, Ted, W2ZK On 8/16/2010 3:47 PM, Brent Sutphin wrote: > I am in need of three 1N4108 zener diodes. I have not been able to find > them unless I want to buy hundreds of them.
