I believe they have one - whether your store does or not is another
issue.  I haven't found it locally.

Elecraft recommends a pigtail cable to reduce strain on the board.
There are some for sale on the internet (from China) but buy at least
two because they are not the best quality.

Maybe someone else can cite a dependable source.

If it is that doesn't help us here in Canada. The stores we knew as Radio
Shack closed some years ago and their replacement doesn't carry much in the
way of cables anywhere close to that.

I tried a while back to find a M-M 2.5mm/3.5mm stereo cable to connect a
small camcorder to a pocket projector. I didn't have much luck finding
anything locally. There was a reasonably priced one located in Australia but
I felt that was a bit far to go for a simple cable.

My KX3 kit is waiting for me at home for later in the week, but I just
ordered the cable set from Elecraft. It is supposed to have everything
covered. You might just want to look at it.

Hi Kevin,

I just use a standard 3.5 mm stereo cable with a 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter plug on one
end.   Got them both at the local Radio Shack, but other stores carry these cables
and little adapters.   GL and VY 73, Lance

Re: 2.5mm 3conductor RX I/Q to 3.5mm 3conductor soundcard line input cable

Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ

We -strongly-recommend that 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters are not plugged directly into the IQ jack on the KX3. They can easily damage the jack if they are bumped, due to their longer lever arm when sticking out of the jack.

The 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable in the KX3-PCKT has a molded 2.5mm right angle plug that minimizes the chance of damaging the jack.

Eric

Thanks for the warning!

This is really good guidance.

Your new cable set package will solve all the "problems"

The combination that scares me is plugging in an older headset like my Heil
Proset which has a 1/4" phones plug. Through a bulky 1/4" to 1/8" adapter,
there is a lot of mass hanging off the PHONES connector on the KX3. Sure
wish the new cable package included a right-angle 3.5 male to 1/4" inline
female. Or even a right-angle 3.5 male to 3.5 inline female. At least that
would put the big, bulky stuff down on the desktop. You offer a right-angle
audio-out connector for digital ops but not for CW and SSB ops!

Re: 2.5mm 3conductor RX I/Q to 3.5mm 3conductor soundcard line input cable

geoff allsup
One thing that might help here is to use one side of a 1/8" Y-adapter ( I have a few of these from Radio Shack) - that gets you a few inches of flex
